What if we told people that Jesus is the best possible leader? What if we then told them that Jesus’ Kingdom has an unparalleled set of values? What if we then worked at serving them? What if after that we spent time together discovering the truth? That would be a good thing.

Hi, I’m Michael.

I write from a long view, shaped by decades of ministry, theological study, and cross-cultural life, reflecting on how faith is formed over time in real people and real communities.

I’ve lived in the Philippines for more than 25 years now, though I grew up in Canada as a pretty typical prairie kid who never expected life would lead here. That movement — from the prairies to Manila, from student to pastor, from ministry to teaching, from church gathered to scattered — has shaped how I see faith and the world around me.

Most of what I write and teach sits where church, culture, and the lives of men intersect. I’m interested in how belief is lived out in real settings: In families, in communities, in the quiet places where decisions are made and character is formed. These are the conversations you’ll find here.

Along the way, I’ve also been learning more about my own Métis heritage. It wasn’t a big part of my upbringing, but it’s part of my story, and it adds another layer to how I think about identity, belonging, and faith.

My hope for this space is simple: honest questions, real stories, and theology that doesn’t stay on paper but takes root in everyday life. I learn a lot from listening, so I value your perspective as much as my own.

You’re welcome to read in English or Tagalog — kung saan ka mas komportable. And soon, I’ll be launching a podcast where we can explore these themes a bit more deeply.

Thanks for being here. I’m glad our paths crossed.
